GEORGE TOWN: The family of a 15-year-old boy who was abducted and forced to drink a solution which caused his face and mouth to swell are puzzled why a suspect in the case had since been released.
The boy's father, 60-year-old retiree Idris Shahid, said he did not know why the man was released when he should have been charged with abduction and attempted murder.
He said he wanted police to rearrest the man, one of three, he claimed abducted his son at gunpoint.
Idris' lawyer, R.S.N. Rayer said police should act swiftly to rearrest the suspect whom they had released on police bail.
"There should not be any delay for the police to get their act together."
He claimed that the suspect was embroiled in a feud with Idris' family.
