Pakatan Rakyat Youth wings yesterday lodged a report over alleged racist remarks by Bayan Baru member of parliament Datuk Seri Zahrain Mohamed Hashim and a TV1 host during an interview on Friday night. In the report, state DAP Socialist Youth vice-chairman R.S.N. Rayer expressed dissatisfaction over the interview aired from 10pm to 11pm.

Baru baru ini Dewan Perniagaan Melayu Malaysia (DPMM) Cawangan Pulau Pinang dan pertubuhan bukan Kerajaan (NGO) Islam telah membuat kenyataan bahawa Pihak Berkuasa Negeri dan Pihak Berkuasa Tempatan telah menjadikan orang Melayu sebagai sasaran penguatkuasaan dan ditindas khususnya merobohkan gerai yang melibatkan orang Melayu.

Pihak Kerajaan Negeri memandang serius dakwaan ini dan telah mengarahkan Majlis Perbandaran Pulau Pinang, Pejabat Daerah Timur Laut dan Pejabat Daerah Barat Daya untuk menyemak statistik supaya memastikan apakah dasar perkauman diamalkan dalam tindakan penguatkuasaan.

GEORGE TOWN: The state has asked the Kampung Buah Pala families to be “reasonable” in their compensation demands.
Deputy Chief Minister II Dr P. Ramasamy said the state had already secured double-storey homes for 15 of the 24 affected families and was still trying to negotiate for more.
Dr Ramasamy was upset after one of the residents said it was their “right” to get more.
“Please do not keep talking about your rights. Some of you here today were against us but we still helped you get a land title free of encumbrances.
